Baga town targeted by Boko Haram militants

  • Boko Haram  militants in Nigeria have targeted Baga town in the country’s north-east, killing dozens of people on Wednesday, January 7, media reports said.

    The Islamist group had earlier seized a military base in the area.

    Residents were quoted as saying that most of the town had been burnt down and the militants were now attacking surrounding areas. Most of the inhabitants have fled the town.

    Large parts of Borno state, where the town is located, is under militant control.
