Australia's Queensland Faces Major Flooding Situation after Heavy Rainfall, Dampens Raging Fire

  • The bushfire-stricken Queensland state of Australia is now facing a major flooding situation after heavy rainfall. The raging fire has dampened some of the fires, which has until now razed around 2.5 million hectares (1.2 million acres) of land since September last year. Queensland’s Bureau of Meteorology has said that the state has received around 6.3 inches (160 mm) of rain till 9 am on Sunday in the last 24-hours. The bureau has warned that in the coming days more rainfall is expected. No severe damage has been reported yet and many people have been rescued from floodwaters.
