Australian National University Campus attack: Culprit arrested, several injured

  • The campus of Australian National University, Canberra, witnessed chaos as a student attacked a female lecturer and four classmates. As per the reports of the police, an 18-year-old Caucasian male student struck a female lecturer and four classmates who tried to intervene, with a baseball bat. The student was “not known” to the interrogating agencies, according to the police after his arrest. The incident occurred at around 9:15 am on Friday, when the accused entered the university classroom in the Copland Building and bashed several people. Marnie Hughes-Warrington, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Australian National University said that the students showed “incredible bravery to protect the lecturer.”
