Australia to contract private firm to fight Ebola in Sierra Leone
November 5 , 2014
Australia will contract a private medical firm to fight Ebola in Sierra Leone, Tony Abbot said.
The prime minister said Australia is committing $17 million for staffing and operating a treatment center, which is being built by the UK, as per media reports.
However, no Australian government health workers would be sent to west Africa.
The Ebola epidemic in west Africa has killed around 5,000 people this year, most of the deaths occurring in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.
