Australia raises terrorism threat level to high
September 12 , 2014
Australia's terrorism threat level, which was medium, has been raised to high.
Announcing this, prime minister Tony Abbott said his government was concerned by the increasing number of Australian nationals “working with, connected to or inspired by” Islamist militant groups.
He, however, stressed that there was no specific intelligence of a terror plot or imminent attack.
Dozens of Australians are believed to be fighting for militant groups such as the Isis in Syria and other countries, reports said.
