As chaos in Libya spreads, US evacuates Tripoli embassy
July 27 , 2014
The United States has evacuated its embassy in Tripoli as the security situation in Libya sharply deteriorates.
Diplomatic efforts to get the warring militias to agree on a ceasefire have not succeeded. With rockets and artillery being used by all sides in the conflict, thousands of residents of the capital are fleeing their homes.
According to some estimates, at least 100 people have died in the last 15 days of fighting.
