Argentina: Thousands march to protest violence against women
June 4 , 2015
Thousands of protesters have marched in Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires to condemn violence against women.
Protests against “femicide” were held in other cities in the country and in Chile and Uruguay as well.
Recent cases of vicious violence against girls and women have shocked Argentineans. Besides women’s groups, political parties, unions and the Church have backed the protests.
Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi and Argentina’s president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner have also supported the marches.
