Argentina seeks arrest of 20 former officials of Franco regime
November 2 , 2014
A judge in Argentina has issued arrest and extradition warrants against 20 former officials of the General Franco era who are accused of rights abuses.
Due to an amnesty law they can’t be tried in Spain. The officials include two former ministers — Rodolfo Martin Villa and Jose Uteri Molina — of the military regime.
Maria Servini de Cubria, the Argentine judge who issued the order, invoked the legal doctrine of “universal jurisdiction”.
