Argentina: Appeals court dismisses case against President Fernandez
March 27 , 2015
An appeals court in Argentina has upheld an order to dismiss a case against the country’s president, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.
Fernandez was accused of a cover-up in the alleged involvement of Iranian officials in the 1994 bomb attack targeting a Jewish center that killed dozens of people.
In February, Daniel Rafecas, the federal judge had dismissed the case. Rafecas had taken the decision after going through a lengthy report prepared by Alberto Nisman, the special prosecutor.
Nisman’s mysterious death by a gunshot wound in January triggered a major controversy in Argentina.
