Anti-extremism summit begins in US

  • Representatives from across the world have gathered in the US for a summit that will look at ways to counter violent extremism.

The three-day event comes after violent extremism-linked incidents in countries like France, Australia and Denmark.

Speaking at the summit, US vice-president Joe Biden stressed on the need to “provide an affirmative alternative” to immigrants to prevent their marginalization. He said that a “sense of belonging” to immigrant communities would blunt the “terrorist’s appeal”.
