Another ceasefire comes into effect in Gaza
August 11 , 2014
Israel and Hamas have agreed to another proposal by Egypt for a new 72-hour ceasefire. Indirect talks between the two sides are expected to resume in Cairo.
After the last ceasefire ended, Israeli air strikes have killed 15 people in Gaza. Hamas did not agree to extend the previous truce as it wanted Israel to agree to its demands.
The conflict has claimed around 2000 lives, mostly in Gaza. An estimated 500,000 residents of Gaza have been forced out of their homes.
