American jailed in Egypt asks Obama for help
June 5 , 2014
An Egyptian American who was captured in Egypt last summer is now asking President Obama to help free him. Reports suggest that he recorded his message in a video, which was smuggled out of prison and handed over to the media.
"Before getting arrested, I was documenting crimes against justice, against humanity, against democracy in Egyptians," Mohamed Soltan said. "I've had my freedom stripped away from me. Why? Because I was living by the same rules and principles that our founding fathers built this great nation on."
The Guardian notes that the man was arrested after a protest camp last year.
