Alleged Call of Duty 'Swatting' Hoax Call Leads Kansas Police Kill Innocent

  • A 28-year-old man and father of two, Andrew Finch, was shot dead by police in Wichita (Kansas) after they received a 911 emergency call from a person who claimed of shooting his father dead and holding his family hostage. Reports say the emergency call was a hoax and stemmed from an altercation between two Call of Duty gamers. The hoax 911 caller apparently misled the police to an address not connected with any one of the two gamers. Police has considered the incident as a case of “swatting” where a hoax caller makes false report for sending police or SWAT team to either a fake address or to another person’s house. 25 year old Tyler Barriss has been arrested from California.
