Algeria: Militant Leader behind Frenchman's beheading is killed

The special forces of Algeria killed the chief of the Jihadist group, who slaughtered French hiker Herve Gourdel in September, Algeria's defence ministry reported Tuesday, December 23. Gouri Abdelmalek, also called Khalid Abu Suleiman along with two other followers was waylaid and killed near Boumerdes, 50 km east of Algiers, according to media reports.
Gouri was the mastermind of Algeria's 1990s Islamist clash and chief of the Caliphate Soldiers group that pronounced its fidelity to jihadist Islamic State fighters.
