AirAsia flight QZ8501: Search area for missing jetliner expands

A multi-nation search for the missing AirAsia jetliner that disappeared on Sunday morning expanded. According to the press release issued by Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency, the search area has been expanded to seven sectors based on the data received when the plane lost contact and information on weather conditions. While Malaysia and Singapore deployed three ships and one Hercules plane each, the Indonesian Navy has deployed two warships. Moreover, Australia has provided an AP-3C Orion maritime patrol Aircraft to further strengthen the search operation. The head of the lead agency in this search operation suspect that the plane has hit the bottom of the ocean. The passenger plane with 162 people on board disappeared over stormy Indonesian waters on Sunday morning.
