August 5 , 2014
Around 50 heads of state are expected to take part in a three-day summit of African leaders in the United States, which started on Monday, August 4, as per media reports.
Penny Pritzker, the US commerce secretary, said that business deals worth $900m will be announced during the meet.
While the presidents of Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone had to cancel their visits because of the Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa, Eritrea, the Central African Republic, Zimbabwe, and Sudan were not invited to the summit.
