Afghanistan Grieves the Loss of Over 140 Brave Soldiers

  • Afghanistan is yet to come to terms on how such a brutal and brazen attack could take place in a highly secure military base in Mazar-E-Sharif, home to 209 Corps of the Afghan National Army. Unconfirmed reports point to at least 140 dead and several others injured.

Several world leaders have called Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to personally convey their condolences and condemn the attack. In an official statement, the President said the attack was against all human and Islamic values.

The attack in Mazar-E-Sharif comes soon after the US bombing IS insurgents in Nangarhar province, using the largest non-nuclear conventional bomb, GBU 43, in the US arsenal.
