Afghanistan: Four sentenced to death for killing woman
May 7 , 2015
A court in Afghanistan has sentenced four men to death for killing a 27-year-old woman who was accused of burning the holy Quran. Eight others got 16-year terms while 18 suspects were found not guilty by the judge.
The horrific incident occurred on March 19 when an all-male mob brutally thrashed Farkhunda, threw her off a Kabul bridge and set her body on fire. The incident was captured on video, and the images shocked the world. Authorities later said there was no evidence that she had burned the Quran.
