August 3 , 2014
Israel believes that Hadar Goldin, the soldier assumed to be abducted by Palestinian militant group Hamas, was killed fighting.
This announcement came after Binyamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, gave indications that the country’s military operation in Gaza was ending. Several Israeli tanks and military vehicles left Gaza to be stationed at the border.
Netanyahu said once all Hamas tunnels had been demolished, the Israeli military “will prepare for continuing action according to our security needs and only according to our security needs”.
