A kiss helped catch Paris jewel thief
February 6 , 2014
Police were able to catch a jewel thief in Paris after he made the mistake of kissing his hostage on the cheek.
The 20-year-old and his accomplice followed and tied a 56-year-old jewelry store employee to a chair. Reports suggest that they poured water on her head but claimed that it was gasoline and threatened to burn her if she didn't provide the alarm codes for the store.
The accomplice went to swipe after the woman gave them the information and she was eventually untied with a parting kiss, which led to the police taking a DNA test. They got a match months later and finally arrested the suspect on Jan. 22.
The thief mentioned that the kiss was meant to "ease" the hostage's trauma.
