89 killed in suicide car bomb attack in Afghanistan
July 16 , 2014
In one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in recent years, a suicide bomber detonated a car packed with explosives in a crowded bazaar in Afghanistan, killing at least 89 people.
The bombing occurred in Urgun in the country’s Paktika province, targeting shoppers during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month.
The first six months of 2014 have been the bloodiest for civilians in Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban, the United Nations recently said.
