78 boys get jail terms for participating in pro-Morsi rallies
November 27 , 2014
An Egyptian court has announced prison terms of up to five years for 78 boys for participating in protests with the Muslim Brotherhood, according to media reports.
The boys, between the ages of 13 and 17, had joined protest rallies demanding the return of Mohammed Morsi, the ousted president.
Authorities in Egypt have come down heavily on Islamists since Morsi was removed in 2013.
According to the state media, the boys had been arrested for taking part in rallies that called for “the downfall of the (current) regime.”
