7.2 magnitude quake kills 93 in Philippines
October 16 , 2013
A 7.2 earthquake killed at least 93 people and collapsed a hospital as well as the bell tower at the oldest church in Philippines.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Bohol, where 77 deaths have been confirmed; people are still stuck inside the collapsed building and rescue teams have been making attempts to reach them.
The second largest city in the country, Cebu where 15 people died, has been extensively damaged as well.
A government employee in Bohol said they "ran out of the building" and "hugged trees because the tremors were so strong." She mentioned that people anticipated a tsunami after the earthquake so they began pushing each other in order to go up the hill.
