February 23 , 2015
A ferry capsized in Bangladesh’s Padma River on Sunday after being hit by a cargo vessel, killing at least 68 people.
The double-decker passenger ferry was packed at the time of the accident, which occurred in Manikganj district, to the north of capital Dhaka, the police said.
Authorities said that the death toll could rise as many people remained trapped inside the lower deck of the ferry; many of the survivors were on the upper deck.
