6.7-magnitude Earthquake Struck Turkey, 22 People Killed and 1,030 People Injured and Hospitalized

  • Turkish Interior Minister Sulyman Soylu said that a 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Turkey on Friday evening killing at least 22 people and injuring thousands. At least 10 buildings collapsed due to the quake in Turkey (including 5 buildings in eastern Elazig province’s Sivrice town). During a news conference on Saturday, he said that 18 people in Elazig province and 4 in Malatya province have died. Overnight 39 people have been pulled out of the rubble. The minister also said that 22 people are still trapped under the collapsed buildings. On Saturday, Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca said that around 1,030 people are injured and hospitalized.
