500,000 flee to safety as typhoon hits Philippines
December 7 , 2014
Over 500,000 people fled to safety as typhoon Hagupit struck eastern Philippines, snapping the power supplies in the region and bringing heavy rain.
The area has still not recovered from last year’s devastating typhoon Haiyan which killed more than 7,000 people and left tens of thousands homeless.
Though Hagupit is not as threatening as last year’s storm, authorities warned that it could cause considerable damage due to intense rain and potential storm surges.
