42 Somali Refugees Killed in Airstrike Off Yemen's Coast

  • As per reports, at least 42 people were killed when a helicopter opened fire on a boat carrying Somali refugees off Yemen’s coast. The vessel was hit near the Bab al-Mandeb strait. Among those killed were women and children.

UNHCR issued identity documents were found in the boat with the bodies.

Reports say that about 80 people survived and were taken to hospital.

It is still not clear who carried out the attack. The mystery remains about where the boat was heading to or coming from.

In a separate incident in Yemen on Friday, a mosque was attacked inside a military base in which at least 22 people were killed.
