36 pilgrims die in bus crash in southern Italy

A bus carrying pilgrims to Catholic shrine went off a bridge in southern Italy and killed at least 36 people, including children.
Eleven people were reportedly hospitalized as a result of the accident, according to Luca Cari, a fire spokesman. Another police official reported at least 37 people were killed instead of 36 and more bodies could be found at the scene. Reports have also varied in terms of the total number of people that were aboard. Andrea Regione, a photographer said the bus had fallen about 30 meters into a heavily wooded area and the photos of the accident showed the bus laying on its side.
Regione estimated the involvement of 10 other vehicles in the crash and the cause of the accident is not yet known.
