In a major jailbreak, 355 inmates escaped from prison in Ghazni province in Afghanistan following an attack by the militants. Media reports quoted Mohammad Ali Ahmadi, Deputy Provincial Governor, as saying that around 2 a.m., a militant crashed against the prison's main gate with a car bomb. Following the explosion, six militants, who were in police uniforms, entered the jail and helped the inmates in escaping from the prison. Many Taliban insurgents also succeeded in escaping; however, security forces were successful in intercepting more than 80 prisoners.
