33 Children Die in Tanzania after School Bus Crash

A fatal school bus crash took place in Arusha city (located in Tanzania’s northern Karatu District) that led to death of 36 people, out of which 33 are children (12 to 13 years of age).
Authorities say that the school bus swerved off a steep road and fell into a ravine. Two children survived the crash. However, they are currently in critical condition.
Aruba Police Commander Charles Mkumbo has told media that the tragic accident took place in a hilly region and it was raining at the time of accident.
Tanzanian President John Magufuli called the tragedy a "great shock and sadness".
Official records show that over 3,000 people die every year on Tanzania’a roads.
