30 killed, dozens missing in landslide in India

  • At least 30 people were feared killed in a landslide in the Indian state of Maharashtra, according to media reports.

Around 40 homes were buried under the rubble and the death toll is expected to rise as rescue workers continued search for dozens of people trapped under the debris. Rain hampered rescue efforts in the tribal village of Malin near the city of Pune.

Prithviraj Chavan, the chief minister of Maharashtra, has said that nearly 200 people could be trapped in houses that bore the brunt of the landslide.
