25 percent of India to turn into a desert
June 21 , 2014
About one quarter of the land in India is reportedly becoming a desert due to the over-use of land and other factors such as heavy grazing and rainfall patterns.
The environment minister of the country said the "land is becoming barren," noting that this change could mean bad news for food security.
Forbes mentioned that about 10 percent of the land in the country would turn into desert by 2050. Moreover, a loss of productivity is said to be affecting 32 percent of it at this point.
