24 killed in mine fire in China
November 26 , 2014
A fire at a mine in Liaoning province in northeastern China has reportedly killed 24 miners and injured 54.
The mine is run by Liaoning Fuxin Coal Corporation, a state-owned company, according to media reports.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but the firm said rescue efforts had ended.
Hundreds of fatalities are caused by accidents in China’s mines every year, but in recent years there are indications of improvement in safety norms.
