August 3 , 2014
At least 22 people were killed in Libya’s capital Tripoli on a day of heavy fighting as rival militias battled to seize control of the international airport, the country’s interim government has said.
Thousands of civilians were exposed to firing by “heavily armed groups”, the statement said.
The death toll in the fighting in the past few weeks has crossed 200, according to conservative estimates.
Meanwhile, Britain’s Royal Navy is taking steps to evacuate British citizens from the violence-hit north African country.
