22 killed as boat capsizes on China's Yangtze river

  • A tugboat capsized on eastern China’s Yangtze river on Thursday, January 15, killing at least 22 people, including foreign nationals, the country’s state media has reported.

    The boat, which was carrying 25 people, overturned while conducting tests close to Zhangjiagang.

    The casualties include victims from Singapore, India, Japan, and Malaysia, media reports said. 

    Three people were rescued and the vessel pulled out of water. It was reportedly being taken on a trial run when it suddenly overturned.
