21 Egyptian border guards killed in attack
July 20 , 2014
Twenty-one Egyptian border guards were killed by gunmen near the Libyan frontier. Both armed smugglers and Islamic militants are being blamed for the attack.
A rocket-propelled grenade blew up a storage facility for weapons during a shootout, killing the Egyptian soldiers, reports said.
Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the president of Egypt, has often expressed concern about militants trying to take advantage of the chaotic situation in Libya to consolidate their position in the border area.
