2016 US election: Republican Donald Trump declares bid for presidency

  • Stressing that the "American Dream" was “dead”, property mogul Donald Trump became the latest Republican, in an already crowded field, to announce his run for the 2016 presidency.

He told supporters that America was in “serious trouble” and he wanted to make the country “great again.”

Trump spoke in favor of gun rights and backed government programs such as Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Eleven Republicans including Jeb Bush and Scott Walker have already declared their presidency bids before Trump.
