2014 Gaza War: At least 44 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes on UN schools, inquiry reveals
April 28 , 2015
“Israeli actions” led to the deaths of at least 44 Palestinians taking shelter at UN schools during the 2014 Gaza war, according to a UN inquiry.
The probe also found that Palestinian militants used three vacant UN schools to store arms, and may have fired from them in two cases.
More than 2,200 people were killed in the conflict, most of them Palestinians.
In a letter accompanying the report’s summary, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that it was a matter of “utmost gravity” that people who had come to the schools for protection and shelter “had their hopes and trust denied”.
