2-year old has twin removed from his stomach
October 3 , 2013
Doctors found out something disturbing when Xiao Feng was admitted to a hospital with a swollen stomach: He was carrying his own twin.
Acting like a parasite, the fetus was undeveloped and measured 10 inches wide with fully formed spine and limbs; it took two-thirds of the 2-year old boy's stomach when doctors removed it.
Such cases are extremely rare and are called cryptodidymus. Conjoined twins are formed when an egg doesn't fully develop after splitting and one fetus ends up concealing inside the other's body.
Reports suggest that there's no chance of it surviving on its own.
