2 Police Officers among 4 Killed in Canada Mass Shooting, Suspect under Custody

  • Canada witnessed one of its biggest mass shootings in recent past on Friday as 4 people were killed (including 2 police officers on line of duty) in the eastern Canadian city of Fredericton, New Brunswick. Fredericton Police tweeted that the two slain officers are Lawrence Robert Costello (45 year old) and Sara Mae Helen Burns (43 year old). Official reports say the two officers got killed while responding to reported shots being fired in the area. Canada's federal police force, RCMP, has taken over the investigation on the mass shooting. The suspect (who also sustained severe injuries and currently under treatment in a hospital) is in custody. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his condolences in a tweet.
