2 dead, 100 rescued in Philippines ferry mishap

About 100 people were rescued after bad weather led to the sinking of a ferry in the Philippines.
Two people are believed to have died in the mishap though more may be missing.
The ferry, Maharlika II, had left from Liloan port, reports said. According to the country’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the vessel faced “big waves and strong currents” before it sank.
Three vessels took part in rescue operations, media reports said.
