145 pilot whales dead in New Zealand

Nearly 145 pilot whales have died in a mass stranding on a beach on Stewart Island in New Zealand. As per the reports of the authorities, the stranding was discovered by a hiker late on Saturday. As the location was remote and difficult to access, no proper help could be provided in order to save the whales. In a separate incident, 12 pygmy whales and a sperm whale were also found dead in New Zealand.
