13 dead in helicopter crash in Norway

  • A helicopter crash west of the Norwegian city of Bergen killed all thirteen on board. The helicopter, Eurocopter (EC) 225 L Super Puma, faces a flight ban by the Norway’s civil aviation authority. The servicing of the helicopter was due and had been delayed twice in 2015. The helicopter was flying from the Gullfaks oil field to Bergen in the North Sea. The passengers were working for different organizations but were on a common assignment for Statoil, an oil company. After the crash, Statoil has suspended oil production at the Gullfaks to support the rescue operations.
