12 convicts hanged in Pakistan
March 17 , 2015
At least 12 convicts accused of being terrorists, murderers, or guilty of heinous crimes were hanged in Pakistan. As per media reports, this is the largest number of executions on the same day in Pakistan since the lifting of a moratorium on executions. Ever since the lifting of the moratorium, 27 people have been executed, with the majority being militants. Rights groups say that around 8,000 people are on death row in the country. The moratorium on hanging was lifted after the Taliban attacked a school in Peshawar in December 2014 killing 150 people. Most of the victims were children.
