Yahoo to avoid NSA syping
November 20 , 2013
Yahoo is attempting to avoid being snooped around by the NSA by encrypting all of its products.
According to CEO Marissa Mayer, users will soon be given an option of choosing to have all data encrypted if they wish to. However, all information moving between the data centers of the company will definitely be encrypted.
The company announced this would be on default for Yahoo Mail starting Jan 8. The news came the same day it was reported that the NSA obtained about 444,743 address books of Yahoo users.
"We will continue to evaluate how we can protect our users' privacy and their data," Mayer said, "We appreciate, and certainly do not take for granted, the trust our users place in us."
