Xiaomi to open online store in Europe; phones not in selling list

  • Xiaomi is entering European market this year by opening an online store, the Chinese smartphone maker has said.

The firm, which has become the world’s third biggest smartphone maker, will sell products such as headphones and fitness trackers to begin with, but not its phones.

It could possibly face legal hurdles linked to patent rights if it starts selling its popular phones in Europe and the US.

Xiaomi had earlier announced opening a similar store in the US.
