World's Longest High-speed Rail Launched

The world's longest high-speed rail line started operating on Wednesday in China. The rail spans across most of the PRC and is an ambitious addition to the country's high-speed railway network. At 9 am and 10 am respectively two trains departed from Beijing and Guangzhou stations to commemorate the opening of the 1427 mile line. The speed of these trains is pegged at about 186 miles per hour. 155 pairs of trains will now run on the new line daily. With the addition of this Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed line, the PRC has over 5778 miles of high-speed railways.
