Wikipedia science entries are dominated by men
October 18 , 2013
Few female scientists and technologists have detailed pages on Wikipedia; some don't have any pages at all.
This is another proof of the fact that men outnumber women in STEM fields namely, science, mathematics, technology and engineering.
Brown University is attempting to change that; biology professor Anne Fausto-Sterling and an alumna of the school are training some faculty and students on how to add and edit pages. The two have also provided suggestions for new entries as well as those that need more detail.
Ingeborg Hochmair, who recently won the prestigious Lasker Award for medical research, doesn't have a page of her own on Wikipedia. However, her husband who helped to develop the same device that she did, never won the same award but has his own page.
