Video ads to come to Facebook this week

  • Users are probably not going to be thrilled by the fact that video ads will soon play automatically on Facebook irrespective of whether or not they click on them.

The ads will run on desktops as well as on smartphones and the company is planning on getting them out there by Thursday.

The move has been pending for a long time but technical difficulties and the fear of irritating users kept the company from launching the video ads. However, financial considerations seem to have helped Facebook get rid of those worries. Reports suggest that it plans on charging advertisers $2M a day for ads.

One of the first video ads will be a teaser for the movie 'Divergent.'
