US regulator sues Amazon over 'unauthorized purchases' by children
July 11 , 2014
Amazon has been sued by the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for allegedly allowing millions of dollars in unauthorized purchases by children.
The FTC wants refunds for parents charged for the purchases. The in-app system of Amazon allowed children to “incur unlimited charges on their parents' accounts without permission,” the FTC said in a statement.
Amazon earlier resisted a settlement offer from the regulator, saying it wouldn’t accept tighter controls.
